Responsive personal site

I redesigned and updated my personal site to be responsive so that I could optimise how it is displayed, depending on the device being used to access it.

As more and more people are using mobile and tablet devices to do their internet browsing, it is important that we give them the best possible experience. Whilst we can just design for a desktop browser and let the mobile or tablet user double-tap/zoom in and pan around, we can go a bit further and change the way things are displayed to make it easier to view the information.

On this iteration of my personal site, I have optimised for mobile phones, tablets as well as deliver the standard desktop site. However, instead of starting with the desktop design and working downwards to smaller devices, I have created the site for mobiles first (which is currently the recommended best practice). Then, as the screen width increases I have changed the layout and styling to make best use of the available screen area.
